The 2022 Björn Carlsons Östersjöpris was awarded at the Baltic Sea Science Center at Skansen in Stockholm 3 June 2022. The prize winner, professor Maren Maren Voss from the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde (IOW), received the prize from the Swedish Crown Princess Victoria during an award ceremony.
During the award ceremony the prize winner professor Maren Voss talked about her work on the importance of marine nitrogen, particularly in the Baltic Sea. Attended the award ceremony did also professor Anna-Stiina Heiskanen at the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), Director Freshwater Centre, Finland, and Agnes Karlson, University Lecturer and Docent in Marine Ecotoxicology at Stockholm University, to talk about the Baltic Sea.
Bo Lehander, chairman of the board at the Björn Carlsons Östersjöstiftelse and professor Ragnar Elmgren, scientific spokesperson and board member of the Björn Carlsons Östersjöstiftelse, as well as professor Christina Rudén at Stockholm University, Department of Environmental Science, and chairman of the nomination committee for the Björn Carlsons Östersjöpris, also spoke during the award ceremony.
